What is the Village to Village (VtV) Network?

The Village to Village Network (VtV) has been created by Villages for Villages. The VtV Network helps communities establish and manage their own “Villages.” The Network is sponsored through a joint partnership between NCB Capital Impact and Beacon Hill Village and was developed in response to requests from Villages nationwide.

What exactly is a Village?

Villages are membership-driven, grass-roots organizations that, through both volunteers and paid staff, coordinate access to affordable services including transportation, health and wellness programs, home repairs, social and educational activities, and other day-to-day needs enabling individuals to remain connected to their community throughout the aging process.

What is Beacon Hill Village?

Beacon Hill Village is a membership organization in the heart of Boston.  Created by a group of long-time Beacon Hill residents as an alternative to moving from their homes to retirement or assisted living communities, it was founded in 2001. Beacon Hill Village enables a growing and diverse group of Boston residents to stay in their neighborhoods as they age, by organizing and delivering programs and services that allow them to lead safe, healthy productive lives in their own homes.  For more information, visit www.beaconhillvillage.org.

What is NCB Capital Impact?

NCB Capital Impact helps people and communities reach their highest potential at every stage of life. As a national, non-profit community development organization,
NCB Capital Impact provides financial services and technical assistance to help make high-quality health care, housing, and education more accessible and attainable, and eldercare more dignified and respectful. NCB Capital Impact uses its depth of experience, cooperative approach, and diverse network of alliances to generate critical investments that create a high quality of life for low income people and communities. Visit www.ncbcapitalimpact.org.

How do I add a Secondary or Tertiary Member to my account?

To add additional members to your VtV account you need to login, go to your "profile" then click on Association/Additional members" and there you can add the new people's email addresses. When you click save you will get a popup window with their new temporary username and password. Pass this along to them and then they can start logging in. If you miss this prompt, no problem. The new people that you add can click on "Member login" then "Forgot my username/password" and they can enter the email address you put on their account and then they will get an email with a new temporary username and password.

What is the VtVN Directory?

The information on the VtVN Directory Map is a reference on current Open and In Development Villages around the US. This information pulled from our member and non-member database. Each group that we have on record is displayed. If you are a new group or if you are not listed please see the details below to see how to get your information on the list.

What information is listed on the VtVN Directory?

Each member of the VtV Network can display the following information:

Organization Name
Location (City, State)
Phone
Website

Email
Status
(In Development or Open)
Network Member? (Yes/No)

Each non-member organization of the VtV Network can display the following information (groups must be a Village In Development or Open (providing services):

Organization Name
Location (City, State)
Phone
Email
Status (In Development or Open)
Network Member? No

What if my information is not accurate, what should I do?

If you are a member of the VtV Network you have control over what shows up on your map listing. To do this you need to Login to your account, click on your member "Profile", click on "Additional Member Data" and fill in the questions for the map:

"Is you organization an Active or Researching Village? Yes or No?"
"What is your current Status as a Village? Open (providing services), In Development or Not Applicable."

You are able to edit these answers at any time just be sure to click "Save" at the bottom of the page.

My Organization shows up on the list below the map but I do not have a colored "Bubble Icon," how do I get one?

The map is powered by a program that is geocoding each address in our database. If you do not have an address in our database or if you have a PO Box you will not have a "Bubble Icon." To remedy this and you are a member of the VtV Network you can have your primary member go into their profile and edit their "Contact Info" to reflect a physical address (remember to click "SAVE" at the bottom of the page). If you are not a member of the VtV Network kindly call or email Rita Kostiuk the Coordinator of the VtV Network - 617-299-9638 or rita@vtvnetwork.org.
